Motorcycle price guide
How much do motorcycle tyres cost?
Typical UK price, depending on motorcycle size
Figures last reviewed 1 July 2026.
These prices are for a pair of tyres fitted, the usual benchmark - though rear tyres typically wear faster, so it’s common to replace them one at a time. For motorcycles over 50cc, the legal minimum is 1mm of tread across at least three-quarters of the tyre’s width, in a continuous band all the way round, with visible tread on the rest.
Typical prices by motorcycle size
| Motorcycle size | Typical price | How well sourced |
|---|---|---|
| Small (up to 400cc) | £150 - £190 | Reasonably sourced |
| Medium (401-750cc) | £220 - £300 | Estimate |
| Large (751cc+) | £280 - £380 | Estimate |

Prices are for mainstream brands. Premium brands, and garages in London and the South East, usually charge more - the Quote Checker adjusts for your motorcycle's brand and region. Where these figures come from:
- Named UK specialist - 125cc budget tyre-pair price plus typical fitting labour (published 2026-07, reviewed 2026-07) - The only one of the three tyres-pair sizes with a real quoted anchor.
- Extrapolated from the small-bike figure using general knowledge of tyre cost scaling - not a quoted source for this size (published 2026-07, reviewed 2026-07) - Weakest of the five job types - prioritise re-checking this against a real source first.

- Two tyres
- Fitting and balancing
- New valves where needed, and disposal of the old tyres
- Removing and refitting the wheels, if you ride the bike in
What changes the price
- Tyre type - sport, sport-touring, touring and adventure tyres are priced very differently.
- Size - wider rear tyres on bigger bikes cost more.
- Brand.
- Whether the fitter removes the wheels, or you bring them in loose.
How to make sure you're paying a fair price
- Bringing the wheels in yourself (“loose wheel” fitting) is usually cheaper than having them taken off and refitted.
- Match the tyre to your riding - a track-focused sports tyre wears out quickly on a commuter.
- Check the date code on new tyres, and compare fully fitted prices.
Red flags
- Pressure to fit a pair when only one tyre is worn.
- Balancing or valves charged extra without being mentioned up front.
